Dear Darice, Penny, Huey, and Tina,
I am sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I remember the times on Huger Drive, when our whole
"neighborhood family" would get together. You all are in my thoughts.

Judy & Sam's Family - I worked with Sam at the Air Guard for many, many years and he was a very good friend.Sam was a wonderful person and always a pleasure to be around.I understand exactly what you are experiencing at this time and wish there were something I could say or do to make things easier. Just remember all of the good times you shared together. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Sam being in ANG, a million years ago, we worked in different sections, Sam in maintenance and myself in the Fire Dept, Sam always had a sincere approach to everyone. His respect, devotion, to his position,and the people around him was supreme. He will surely be missed, my deepest sympathy to his family.

I was privileged to meet Sam through Judy Rice, who tried her hardest to keep me straight at the Federal Reserve Bank. He was a fine gentleman, and I always enjoyed chatting with him at Legal Department gatherings and over the telephone. My wife Sue joins me in sending to all of you our deepest sympathy. Hilary was my boss in the Air Guard forty eight years ago and I have considered him my friend ever since. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of sorrow. May God bless and comfort your family during this time.

I know everyone called him "Sam" but for some reason I always called him "Hilary". I guess because the first time I mixed him a Goochland Lemonade at the North Pole 27 years ago he told me his name was "Hilary". So thats what it was to me. Hilary always looked out for me...I was a kid back then...he would ask if there was food in my refridgerator, burried my cat when I was to upset, even pulled my car out of the ditch when a band of "Harbor Lights" blind sided me! He would know what Im talking about. I am so greatful to have gotten the chance to say goodbye.

when i was young, about 7 years old my dad and mom took my brother and i up togoochland to visit with the bowles.when ever i went from my home through goochland i would ask if anyone knew hillary .well some said there is a ''sam bowles.around..i did not know that was hillary ,or i would have looked him up.my sympathies to his family.
