Dearest hilary, your writing has been such a comfort to me.You renewed my love of history and I can say without doubt that you are our finest author.I grieve your loss and shall miss your humour ,joy and ability to bring to life so much of the past, just as if we were standing in the room with all you're characters. My love and admiration.

Wow, just Wow...how do you find the words to express the wonder you found in the way someone had with their words? What a conundrum! I thought Wow was too modern, but it transpires that Wow was first documented in the 1500's... This literary tangle I've got myself into would have amused Hilary I'm sure x

May God grant the family the strength to cope at this time. Also take comfort in the cherished memories together and what had she accomplished as a British author who won the prestigious Booker Prize twice, for her novels “Wolf Hall” and “Bring Up the Bodies.”

What an incredible writer she was. We pray that God continues to strengthen and comfort her husband and family during this extremely difficult period.

Dear Hilary,
Thank you for the treasure you left us.
I met you November 2018 at the Van der Leeuwlecture Groningen.
I offered you a postcard of the picture Girl with strawhat / Paula Modersohn, because of de porcelain blue eyes of the girl. That porcelain blue eyes made me think of how your eyes are described.
Afterwards we had an email conversation and you offered me a proper conversation if you would come to The Netherlands.
I still had the hope it would happen.
It might not be.
You passed away. By your books you will stay with us.
Rest in peace Hilary
Warm condolences to your beloved ones.

A talented writer, so well deserving of the many awards she received. She will be missed, but thankfully her words will live on. May God be with the Mantel family as they endure their time of loss.

My dear Hilary, thankyou for the three best books I have ever read - Wolf Hall and the two following books in the series. May you rest in peace and finally meet the soul of your beloved Thomas Cromwell. My deepest condolences to the Mantel family. From a reader in Switzerland.

I read THE MIRROR & THE LIGHT last year and then reread WOLF HALL and BRINGING UP THE BODIES. What magisterial works of art these novels are. It's likely I will read them again. I am grateful for the life of Hilary Mantel.
