Hilbert E. Neuberger

Hilbert E. Neuberger, age 91, of Selbyville, DE died Sunday, March 24, 2024 at home. He was born on November 30, 1932 in Baltimore, MD and was the son of the late Andrew P. Neuberger and Marie (George) Neuberger.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 19 and served aboard the USS Robert A. Owens, DDE 827; he was a member of the National Association of Destroyer Veterans (Tin Can Sailors); Ye Royal Order of the Bluenose and the Ocean View VFW. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as a pipefitter in 1984. After retirement, he and wife Lori loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He loved NASCAR and would not miss a race on Sundays. In recent years, you could find him on his electric tricycle riding around the neighborhood.
He is survived by two sons, Steve Neuberger and wife Paula of Tucson, AZ and Jim Neuberger and wife Debbie of Chesapeake Beach, MD; a stepdaughter, Terri Schaefer and husband Frank of Selbyville, DE; a stepson, Jay Grap and wife Tammy of Selbyville, DE, 11 grandchildren, Julie Ann (preceded in death) (Matt) Eggleston, Derek Neuberger, Evie Bahl, Daniel (Lauren) Neuberger, Josiah (Jo Beth) Neuberger, Kirsten Neuberger, Sheldon (Chloe) Neuberger, Jolene (Richard) Jackson, Paul Neuberger, Brian (Heather) Lancione, Paul (Leah) Lancione, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Neuberger; a daughter, Linda Neuberger; a brother, George Neuberger; two sisters, Jean Wolf and Marguerite Ingram.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville where friends may call an hour before the service. Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
