Hilda Mae Tapoof, age 65, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away February 15, 2026, at her home.
She was born February 18, 1960, in Roosevelt, to Robert Tapoof, Sr. and Phyllis Mae Redfoot Tapoof.
Hilda worked for many years at the Ute Indian Tribe Headstart and Daycare. She loved the children she worked with and the friends there were very special to her. She was madly in love with the singer, Prince, and was the spouse he never knew about! In her younger years, she was very good at sports, specifically basketball and softball. She really enjoyed shopping for clothes, baking, crocheting, watching her videos, playing “Candy Crush,” and spending her birthday with Rosie in Wendover. She was an avid football fan, but didn’t have a favorite team. She is a proud Breast Cancer Survivor.
Hilda’s family was the world to her, and she adored her grandchildren. She will be very missed.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Keanna Tapoof (Rahsaan Jim), Ft. Duchesne; grandchildren, Aiden & Drayven Jim; siblings, Mercedes Tapoof, Vernal; Jaymoe Tapoof, Robinette (Rafael) Valles, and Marsha Tapoof, all of Ft. Duchesne; Keno (Jenny) Tapoof, Roosevelt; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Gwendolyn Tapoof; siblings Robert “Bob” Tapoof, Jr.; Philbert Tapoof; Jerrilyn Tapoof; Shauna Tapoof; a grandson, Dominic Jim; and, of course, Prince!
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10:00 am. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. There will be a wake at the community building on Wednesday after 4:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Myton Cemetery.
