HIram Loyd "Shorty" Dupree

Hiram L. "Shorty" Dupree, 94, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025. Visitation will be Monday, November 10, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Highland Park Church of Christ. The funeral service will immediately follow in the church sanctuary with Ben Hayes and Mike Brooks officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Central.
Shorty was retired from Reynolds Metals. He was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ, the Lions Club, and Ironworkers Local 477.
Shorty was beloved by all who knew him. He was always the first to help those in need. He was an avid golfer and loved baseball and passed that on to his family. He and his high-school sweetheart, Betty Jane were married for 69 years. They both had a deep love for God and their family.
Shorty was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Broadfoot Dupree; parents, John Loyd and Velma Mills Dupree; children, John L. Dupree and Pamela Dupree Farned; one grandchild; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Dupree; grandchildren, Kylie Pruitt (Jerry), Jonna Brumley (James), Dusty Farned, and Chase Dupree; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Smith, AJ Pruitt, and Ayson Dupree.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Park Missions Fund.
