Hiram Roswell "H.R." Lastinger, Sr., 86, of Moultrie, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Nick Dawson officiating. Private interment will be at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born July 19, 1939, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Travis Lastinger and Lilly Sue Holland Lastinger.
Hiram honorably served his country in the United States Army as a member of the distinguished 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he worked for many years in the maintenance department at Albany YDC, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and kind spirit. After a long and rewarding career, he retired with the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He leaves behind a legacy of service, humility, and faith that will not be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Louise Moore Lastinger; son, Thomas Wyatt Lastinger; grandson, Jamie Lastinger; and grandson-in-law, Chad Griner.
Mr. Lastinger survived by his, son, Hiram Roswell Lastinger, Jr. of Moultrie; daughter, Sharon Lastinger Roberson and husband Bob of Moultrie, and Libby Strickland of Moultrie; grandchildren, Zebulon Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Kristin Griner, Sarah Rowley (Will) all of Moultrie; A.J. Roberson (Mandy) of Lawrenceville; Jason Strickland (Kendal) of New Bern, North Carolina, Colin Strickland (Christa) of Panama City, Florida, Angela Lastinger of Scotland, Christina Lastinger of Scotland, and Keri Wiggins (Matthew) of Climax, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Morgan Griner, James Griner, Caitlin Griner, Owen Rowley, Ella Rowley, Becca Taylor, Cam Taylor all of Moultrie, Hannah Roberson of Lawrenceville, Kassidy Strickland of Oregon, Kaden Strickland of Knob, Missouri, Kolby Strickland, Kharlie Strickland, Karson Strickland, Kelsey Strickland all of Panama City, Florida, Caroline Strickland, Addison Strickland both of New Bern, North Carolina, John Lastinger, Leon Lastinger, Michael Lastinger, Jamie Lastinger, Freya Lastinger of Scotland; brother, Truman Lastinger of Swannee, Georgia; and sister, Altis Wisham of Moultrie.
