Hiram Lopez, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Lubbock, Texas on September 10, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on October 12,1940, in Rotan, Texas, Hiram lived a life filled with love, devotion, and service to his family and community.  He married Mary Lopez on July 24, 1968, in Rotan, Texas and together, they raised a legacy that will last forever.

For over thirty years, Hiram devoted himself to his career as a meat cutter for United Supermarkets, where his hard work and dedication left a lasting impression on those around him. But Hiram's true passion went beyond his job; he found joy in the little things, particularly in the time spent on the softball and baseball fields. The outdoors captivated him, and he embraced a fit lifestyle that reflected his love for nature and activity.

Hiram was not only a devoted father to his four sons—Anthony Lopez (Elena) of Lubbock, Eric Lopez (Angel) of Houston, Joseph Valverde of Lubbock, and Johnny Saenz of Iowa—but he also ignited a spark of pride as a loving husband and an imposing figure in the lives of his daughters, Monique De La Cruz (David) of Arlington, and Jessica Pizana (Eric) of Lubbock. Hiram's legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were always met with warmth, laughter, and an abundance of love.

He proudly served in the Army during Vietnam and his faith played a pivotal role in his life as he served as an active member of Ministerios Nueva Vida. His spirit shined brightly at the church, where he greeted visitors with genuine warmth, embodying the love of the Lord he carried within him. Hiram’s dedication to the ministries he cherished was a reflection of his heart, always eager to lend a helping hand where it was needed.

Hiram is survived by his four sons, two daughters, two brothers—Jack Lopez (Carolyn) of Lubbock, Adan Lopez of Lubbock, Tony Lopez (Adela) of Abilene—and one sister, Irene Soliz. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will carry forth the values he instilled and cherish the wonderful memories they shared.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lopez, who was his partner in love and life, as well as his brother, Frank Lopez, and sister, Dolores Ramirez. Their absence is felt deeply, and Hiram’s steadfast spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.

A viewing will be held on September 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Broadway Funeral Directors, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 14, 2024, at Ministerios Nueva Vida, at 1:00 PM followed by burial at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. All Arrangements were made under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors.

Hiram Lopez will be deeply missed, but his love, his laughter, and his devotion to family and community will forever remain in the hearts of everyone he touched. May he rest in peace, a true testament to a life well-lived.
