Barbara Robertson and I joined Hollis and others in a workshop for a new musical. I did not know much about Hollis beyond her being part of a theatrically talented triumvirate who had migrated to Chicago from Cincinnati. I was struck by her sensitive, acute talent for finding the essence of a lyric when she burrowed into a matter tormenting her character, simply: "What was I doing there?/I don't know." From the first time I heard her sing it I knew she would go far in this city still new to her.

It was long ago when we were just starting out in Chicago after graduating from our respective universities. Hollis was always a big presence. She was driven and hard working. We tried to start a theatre company......we laughed a lot. Goodbye my talented friend.

To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this wonderful woman Hollis Resnik fine comfort with you during this difficult time in your lives. Hollis Resnik was one of the greats of the Chicago theater scene, who also had movie and TV roles. The legacy Hollis Resnik left behind was memorable Broadway show "Les Miserables" that will not be forgotten. May the God of all comfort who is the hearer of prayers be with you in your time of need with his loving kindness and peace as He strengthens you to cope during this difficult time. May family, friends and extended family cherish her memories.

I was shocked to see Hollis´ name among the 2022 In Memoriam during the Tony´s. We worked together in A Little Night Music at the Goodman Theater in Chicago 1994. She was of course, amazing as The Countess but more than that she was a friend and mentor. "Every Day A Little Death," but this one is large and way too soon! Thank you Hollis for all you taught me - giving me the right to take the stage with power and no apology. You will be ever in my heart.

I was the Jean Valjean dresser for the Chicago run of Les Miserables. Every performance Hollis would raise the roof off the Auditorium Theater with "I Dreamed a Dream".
Another dresser and her husband would drive Hollis and me to our respective homes at night. So we got to know each other .
During the run of the show I had my first professional Chicago art exhibit...Hollis and a large part of the company came to the opening. She bought a drawing, which I found strange because I had shown her my portfolio and she could've bought it for less...without paying the gallery fees,
I realized later that she did that as a favor to me. To make me feel more professional.
She was such a talented lovely lady.I just learned of her passing by way of the Tony Awards "In Memoriam'
" feature.
I looked up her obituary and read that Thomas was at her side...another really friendly and very
talented person.
My deepest condolences.

Hollis and I were understudy partners at the Goodman Theater in 2009. I was in my last year of graduate school and i had to cover all of the male parts. She understudied Annette O Toole

The laughs she and i had talking about theater, and playing EUCHRE... which she always won at ... she also made the rules but was still fun to just be in her presence. She always offered kind words of advice to me on acting, and the business, and was a tour de force on the boards.

During our understudy run she had a line that she delivered to me that felt like the ground opened up and made the earth swallowed me whole. It was real, and SCARY.. she was good very good.

She will be missed. I know im late writing this but it just doesn't feel right knowing that a theatrical comrade as wonderful as Hollis has made her transition and i cant not say anything about her and my experience with her.
My sincerest condolences to her family and all close friends who claimed her as family. Till we meet again Hollis.

Holly and I were in Junior HS together. I sang in the choir when she had the lead in the school´s production of "My Fair Lady"...talked with her at her hotel when she was in Tampa for "Les Mis", saw the incredible performance!
Very sad to hear of her passing! A good soul!

I first met Hollis actually by phone interviewing her for her role in Grey Gardens. When she appeared in the show here in Philly, we finally met and became fast friends. For my birthday, she gave me and my husband VIP tickets to the touring Company of Sister Act, where she was starring as Mother Superior. She was an incredible talent and lovely human being
