Horace "Vernon" Owens, 89, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 03, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Dutton officiating. Burial will be at Cherokee Memorial Park in Cherokee, AL.
Born on June 13, 1936, to Clifford and Effie Johnson Owens. Vernon enjoyed watching the Braves, Alabama Football, and the hummingbirds out of his front window.
Survivors include his children, Debbie Owens, Anthony (Judy) Owens, Charles Owens, and Cindy (Danny) Hollis; eleven grandchildren; seven-teen great-grandchildren; sisters, Era Spencer and Marie Foster; brother, David Owens; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Owens; parents, Clifford and Effie Owens; three brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Adam Owens, Nathan Owens, Austin Hollis, Caden Hollis, Brody Hollis, Bryce Parker, and Noah Stewart.
Honorary Pallbearer is Justin Owens.
