Horace "Dean" Tyler

Horace “Dean” Tyler, 87, of Colonial Heights passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Born February 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Harley and Juanita Kelly Tyler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanette O. Tyler; two brothers, Jimmy and Owens Tyler; and one sister, Margie.

Dean attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and boating and had a lifelong love for automobiles. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service as a plant supervisor with Benjamin Moore Paint.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Elizabeth Tyler; three grandchildren, Cary Ressler and husband, Ty Ressler; Olivia Tyler, and Gregory M. Tyler and wife Nicole Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Kinley and Gregory H.; one sister, Nell Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, Virginia 23805, with the Reverend Jonathan Dundalow officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
