BAREFORD, Howard Tatum, Jr., 65 years old, of North Chesterfield, VA, went to the Lord on angels wings on January 10, 2024 at Chippenham Hospital after a long battle with heart and complications from diabetes. HT was born on June 5, 1958 in Alexandria, VA and lived in Virginia Beach and Richmond for his entire life. HT graduated from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach in 1977 and joined the U.S. Army soon thereafter. He became an M.P. (which he loved) and served in Hawaii and Korea with the 25th Infantry Division for six years. He was a lifetime member of Bensley-Bermuda Rescue Squad and became an EMT and worked for Petersburg Rescue Squad for many years. He loved the Redskins (they will always be the Redskins) and faithfully cheered them on. HT was known for his kind, tender heart and would always end his conversations with – "if you need me, call me". He is survived by his parents, Howard T. Bareford, Sr. (Priscilla) of Chester, VA, his Mother, Betty Philyaw Bareford of Bon Air and formerly of Virginia Beach, two brothers-Allen F. Bareford (Alison) of Fredericksburg, VA, Wayne Q. Bareford (life partner Donna Slyer) of
Littleton, N.C., two nephews, William G. (Shania) of New York, Arthur C. of
Richmond, VA, and a new great nephew, Silas Alden of New York, and life long friends Barry and Linda Garber of
Richmond, VA. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in March at Beulah Church, in Chesterfield, VA.
