Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend Howard Daron Eady Sr. passed away September 23, 2025, at the age of 86 in
Kirkland, Washington. He was born March 31, 1939, in Cullman, Alabama. He was the youngest of 8 children. He was a farmer that grew up without water or electricity.
He left Cullman at the age of 17 to join the army and travel. He was stationed in Anchorage, AK. Then he met Carole Ann Wolcoff in Seward, AK and married her on October 15, 1959. A year later Howard D. Eady Jr. was born. In March 1964, Alaska had the biggest earthquake in the United States with a magnitude of 9.2 and it lasted 4-5 minutes. Howard and his family survived it, and in December their daughter Paula Sue was born.
In 1966, Howard and his family moved down to Washington state. Howard went to welding school. He was a welder at several shipyards which would be his vocation until he retired. When he came home from work, he would sit down with a glass of water and say, "Well, I'd better get to work." Howard would then go outside and take care of the lawn, plant gardens, build things and fix whatever needed to be fixed. He accomplished building an addition to his house, a garage, and a playhouse for his daughter. He always had a flourishing garden; his family used the zucchinis for meals.
In 1980 his first grandson was born, Micheal Brandon Eady. Sadly, Micheal passed when he was 18 months old. Howard relied on his faith in God to see him through this. He was heavily involved with the church and even became a deacon. His wife Carole Ann passed away in July 1996. While his daughter, Paula, was working and going to school. Howard took care of his granddaughter Marissa Anne. He took her to school every day, packed her lunch, helped her finish homework and played Barbies with her.
In 2001, Howard was introduced to Suu Gooch by their mutual insurance agent at Farmers Insurance. They quickly built a strong bond and became the best of friends that could enjoy retirement together. They traveled by car on many a road trip to places such as: Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, California, Montana and of course the drive to Alaska. There are magnets on their fridge and mugs in the cabinets to prove it!
Howard and Suu got married on November 29, 2003, and were together for 25 years!
Suu also offered a large, blended family that loved Howard as well. Howard would always accompany Suu at her grandkids' life events whether it be sporting events, graduations or weddings, he was always by her side. The two were busy as ever with this large, blended family.
In his retirement, Howard always kept busy. He enjoyed doing yard work and always had a lush garden. He put 100% effort into learning a craft. He started photography, his talent led him to photograph several weddings. He even built his own dark room to develop his photographs.
Later he built a woodshed and began woodworking. He made beautiful wooden boxes that he gave out. Many of his grandkids still have them in their rooms. He would sit in his backyard and enjoy the day and loved sharing time in the backyard with his pups.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ann, his grandson Michael, his brother Venton and all but one of his sisters.
He is survived by his wife Suu Gooch-Eady, sister Joy Brown, Children Howard Jr. and Shelly, Paula, Tam & Sherri; grandsons Joshua, Hunter, Dillon, Cody, Tam Ryan, Matthew Greg, Austin I; granddaughters Marissa, Elizabeth, Rachael, Chelsea, Jasmyne; Great-grandchildren: Jacob, Mya, Trinity, Vincent, Austin II, Cassius & Great-Great Grandson: Thavone Gio.
