Howard Gleaves Obituary
He was born on March 7, 1964, and grew up in Maxton, NC. He was the son of the late LaFayette Napoleon and Cora Lee (Fairley) Gleaves.
He worked in several capacities for 26 years for the Walmart Company until the time of his death. He graduated from Maxton High School in 1982 and went on to attend East Carolina University. He remained in Greenville, NC area before relocating to York, PA which he made his home.
He is survived by two sisters, Edith Gleaves and Barbara Gleaves both of Summerville, SC, half- siblings Larry Jerome Gleaves of Stockbridge, Ga., Gertrude Stanley of Red Springs, NC, Joan Johnson of Laurinburg, NC, and John Gleaves of Washington, DC.
Family and friends are invited to a private Memorial and Niche Interment Service to celebrate the life of Howard on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm. The Service will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens at the Chapel of Memory inside the Mausoleum which are located at 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville SC. The Rev. Albert Shuler will officiate.
The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave. York is assisting the family.

I have worked with Howard for many years at Walmart. We would have daily conversations as he would come thru my checkout lane. He was a true gentleman and I will miss our chats and his laughter. Prayers for the family.

It´s going to be really hard not to see him during the days when shopping. Even though I don´t work directly with him because I work nights and him days. He was always nice when you did see him. We keep losing good ones who had a lot of time.i´ll miss him. Michael from overnights.
