Howard Lester Jones

Howard Lester Jones, aged 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his home in Mt. Pleasant. Born on September 10, 1934, in Crystal, Michigan, he was the beloved son of the late Lester and Virgie (Snyder) Jones. Howard dedicated many years of his life as the head groundskeeper at the State Home in Mt. Pleasant, retiring at the age of 55. He continued to work by driving cars for Dean Burger Cadillac GMC dealership until he was 80.

Howard was a man of many interests, enjoying bowling and traveling, with a particular fondness for trips to Florida. He was blessed with a loving family from his two marriages. His first marriage brought him two children, Kimberly and Michael, while his second marriage to Mary Lou (Methner) Snyder was blessed with three children: Vickie, Darcy, and Kevin.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Mary Lou Jones, on January 9, 2026, and his son, Kevin Jones, on January 2, 2023. Howard's cremains will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, alongside Mary Lou's, in a private ceremony.
