Howard James Quade Sr. was born on July 22, 1937, in Ortonville, MN, to Rueben and Ella (Aschwege) Quade. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona, SD. Howard attended country school through the eighth grade, after which he helped on the family farm. He later enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1956 to 1958 and spending much of his service stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Corona and resumed working on the farm.

On September 7, 1958, Howard was united in marriage to Barbara Buttke. They were blessed with three children: Howard Jr., Jeffrey, and Toni. The family made their home near Corona. On January 27, 1998, Howard married Jean Sparks in Las Vegas, NV. Through this union, he was blessed to welcome Charlie, Kevin, Glenn, and Autumn into his life. Howard and Jean made their home on the family farm outside of Corona, where they have lived ever since.

When Howard’s farming days slowed down, he kept busy driving a cement truck and hauling cattle for local farmers. In later years, he enjoyed traveling with Jean. The couple purchased a camper and spent their winters traveling south. He was a member of the Buckaroos and once served as Commander of the VFW in Milbank. Howard had a passion for simple pleasures. He enjoyed trail rides, restoring old tractors, and playing cards with friends. But above all, he loved spending time with his family.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife, Jean Quade of Corona, SD; children: Howard Quade Jr. of Cody, NE; Toni Boone of Twin Brooks, SD; Charlie (Amy) Baugh of Chicago, IL; Kevin (Rhonda) Baugh of Guthrie, OK; and Autumn Kane of San Antonio, TX; one brother Don Quade of Milbank, SD; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Rueben and Ella Quade; his wife, Barbara Quade; children: Jeffrey Quade and Glenn Baugh; siblings: Shirley Voeltz and Kenny Quade.
