I worked with Howard in 1980. We were both jazz people. We both liked the trumpet playing of CHET BAKER.

My first impression (before meeting him) of Howie when I arrived at 60 Centre st (beyond the impeccable head of hair) was how squared away he was. Every day, he looked like he was about to attend a ceremony. And beyond his appearance, he conducted himself like a true professional in every situation.
Beyond the outer appearance, I came to know Howie as an even better human being. Just a man of impeccable character. The kind of person anyone would be proud to call a friend.
One thing that I´d like to point out about Howie, that often goes overlooked, is how he was able to relate and mentor younger officers of every generation. He´d connect with all of them, no matter their age, gender, ethnicity...Howie became a role model and trusted friend to all.
We meet people every day, but some leave a lasting impression. That was Howie. May he rest in peace forever.

I had the honor to have worked with Howie for 15 years at 60 Centre street as a Supreme Court Officer. Howie was a true gentleman and a great friend. He was very professional and took his job as an officer very seriously. He was always welcoming to the new guys coming to work at the courthouse. I had the honor of being a close neighbor in the locker room and enjoyed our coffee conversations in the morning. You will be missed my friend, god bless you and your family.

My mom and Howie worked together and became long time friends. I remember being a little girl and my mom bringing me to work with her. Howie would take me to Chinatown and buy me ice cream. He made me feel so special. I will forever cherish Howie's kindness, smile, and friendship. Rest in so much peace, Howie. Sending my deepest condolences to Sharon and Howie's family.
