Howard B. Stevens, "Hi", 89, long-time resident of New Milford, died peacefully, November 15, 2025, at Danbury Hospital.
Born in New Milford, CT, on September 24, 1936, son of Francis and Edith (Balch) Stevens. He was proudly named after his grandfather, Dr. Howard G. Stevens, a distinguished horse and buggy doctor, influential in New Milford during the early 20th century.
Hi grew up in Danbury and was a 1954 graduate of Danbury High School, where he met his future wife of 59 years, Kathryn Stevenson. He graduated from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass before starting an arborist business in 1965, which he and Kathryn ran successfully until his retirement.
Hi had a gift of gab, coupled with a remarkable memory. He enjoyed entertaining others at length with stories and humorous anecdotes.
Howard was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey and wife, Pamela, his daughter, Elizabeth, his grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda and husband, Sam. He is also survived by his sister, Linda S. Zucca and husband, Dennis, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
