I cant lie, deny, his departure sure made me cry. I remembered Howard Tate of the sixties, and when I heard his name on the Grammies, I couldnt believe it was the same guy...because I was lead to b'lieve he had passed. Now to find out he's really passed, its hard to take. Mr. Tate was one of those comeback cases who did not let misfortune overrule. May he rest in peace.

To the Tate family: I am sorry for your loss. Mr.Tate was a man that fought through his problems & came out a winner in the end. That is certainly something to be proud of! I pray that your family will find hope & comfort from the God of all comforts.

Prayer permits us to express our worship of and love for the Creator. We can pour out our feelings and desires. The psalmist wrote: “Before him pour out your heart. God is a refuge for us.”—Ps. 62:8.

You have my deepest sympathy, Howard's struggle is over. Life sometimes can be very difficult. May you find comfort and peace knowing that God cares for you and loves you. Seek Him in prayer for strength to endure in the days ahead. God loved us and made provision for us to enjoy everlasting life. (John 3:16)

I listen to the Interview of 2003 today on NPR news and he sounded wonderful. he got a second chance that was a gift in itself. My condolences to relatives and friends. may he rest in peace.

I live in Philadelphia and knew about Howard Tate,this brother really battled with deamons for many years.Aint Nobody Home is the song i remember,may you rest in peace my Brother.N.Bluford.Philadelphia,Pa.

"Shoot'em all down" was the only song on a 45 we heard here in South Texas. My mother operated a small cafe and it was on the jukebox. Our onlyportal into Soul Music was through WLAC in Memphis, TN (Randy;s Record Mart.) I'd play that 45 every chance I got, especially when friends would come over. God bless this brother and his Family

So sorry to hear about this.... meeting Howard and seeing him get his career back on track was an amazing experience. Howard had the gift... very few ever have... of being able to turn a pop song into a moral lesson. His road was a hard one, there's an old song that says you have got to suffer if you want to sing the blues.... Howard sang the blues with soul and passion, as much as any I can think of. Many singers covered him.... NO ONE ever equaled him... and that says it all.
