Hratch "HR" Tanelian Keshishian
Of Waltham, passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday morning December 20, 2023, at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.
Born on September 25, 1960, in Beirut, Lebanon; son of the late Kevork Keshishian and Aroucag (Tarpinian) Keshishian. "HR" was raised and educated in Lebanon until graduating from high school. After graduation, he was the first in his family to immigrate to the United States in 1978.
After settling in the greater Boston area, "HR" went on to begin a career as a Jeweler. Throughout the years he taught himself the art of selecting and designing jewelry pieces as well as jewelry repair. With success in his early years, "HR" opened his own store front "HR Jewelers of Boston" located in the Jewelers building.
"HR" had many different passions outside of work. He was a devout member of St. Stephen's Armenian Church in Watertown. He was a longtime active member of Waltham Lions Club and recipient of the most prestigious award given to a Lion the "Melvin Jones Fellowship Award". In addition to the many organizations that he was a part of, he had a love for music and particularly dancing. Although he had many interests, most dear to his heart was his friends and his family. Especially his dear friend James "Jim" Gabriel and Jim's family; Jenna, Ryan, and Emma who he treated like his own nieces and nephews.
Dear brother of the late; Harout Keshishian, Sousi Keshishian, and Varouj Keshishian.
"HR" is survived by his loving siblings; Krikor Keshishian and his wife Mayda of Pennsylvania, Ani Manjerian and her late husband Harout; his devoted nieces, and nephews; Mireille Manjerian, Garo Manjerian, Aline Keshishian, Christine Keshishian, Kevork Keshishian, and Serge Keshishian. In addition, he is survived by many extended family members.
Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Hratch's life to remember the love and friendship he shared with others at Funeral Service at Saint Stephen's Armenian Church, 1 Artsakh Street, WATERTOWN on Saturday, December 23rd at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Saint Stephen's Armenian Church, 1 Artsakh Street, Watertown.
