Huey Preston Cole

Huey Preston Cole passed away on September 2, 2009. He was born on March 11, 1938 in Bankston, Alabama to Marie Sparks and John Armin Cole. On November 20, 1961 he married Nancy Juliana (Judy) Carmiencke. In 1971, Huey joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and on July 20, 1973, He and Judy were sealed in the temple. Huey served his country honorably for 5 years in the U.S. Air Force. He attended BYU and received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Education and worked as an Electrical Technician at the Dugway Proving Grounds. Huey was a self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades. If he had a question about chemistry or wanted to make something from scratch, he would learn and do it himself. He was a member of the Muzzle-Loading Club in Alaska and a member of the NRA. Throughout his life he received many awards for innovations in his field. He is survived by his wife, two sons; Huey P. Cole II, Daniel O. Cole, two daughters; Beverly Larsen, Janet Shakespear; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, David Grant; one sister, Carolyn Grant; and an uncle, Richard Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tyler Allen Cole; a great-granddaughter, Fiona Waterson; and a sister, Fannie Mae Maddox. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Park 8th Ward, 114 S. 400 W., Orem. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery. Military rites provided by VFW District #4.
