Hugh and I grew up in southwest Edmonton, Alberta while attending school at Mount Pleasant, Allendale and Scona. We were neighborhood friends and played sports together. Like many childhood friends, we eventually lost contact after high school. A memory that stands out in for me perhaps defines Hugh's loyalty and sense of justice. Many of us delivered the local newspaper as kids and on Saturdays we were required to deposit our money at the newspaper office. Standing at a street corner, a boy much bigger than me punched me in the jaw for a reason I can not recall. Later a friend with me at the time told Hugh what had happened. The following week Hugh joined us in making our deposit and we spotted the individual who punched me. Hugh grabbed the individual, who was also bigger than Hugh, and told him to never punch his friend again. That ended it. Thanks Hugh for your friendship. You will be missed by many.

This was such a shock to hear that you passed away. You will certainly be missed Hugh! Sandra and family - you are in my thoughts through this difficult time.

My Friend. We can't look out our windows or walk out our front door without tearing up. You were honest, compassionate, caring, intelligent and successful. You will be missed dearly by Linda and I and countless others. There just aren't enough words to express the disbelief and shock that we won't see you walking to the mailbox or driving to the gym any longer. Godspeed my Brother! You are loved.
