In Loving Memory of Dad - Hughie
On August 28 at 6:25pm, he was off like an angry herd of turtles-his signature exit, full of motion and mischief. But in life, he was always "finer than frog hair," a phrase that summed up his charm, his grit, and his grin.
Everyone knew Hughie. Not just by name, but by the sound of his laugh-infectious, unmistakable, and always close behind a smile. He had a way of making ordinary moments feel like celebrations. Whether it was a spontaneous trip to Denny´s (which was never really a question), or backing into the driveway just to say hello, he showed up with love and intention.
I still wait for the phone to ring. "Whatcha doing, you working today?" he'd ask, knowing full well the answer didn´t matter-he just wanted company, a bite to eat, and a little time together. I still look out the window hoping to see his car, hoping for one more visit, one more dinner, one more cookout followed by a call saying, "That was a real good party."
Every day, I miss him. I miss the sound of his voice, the way he filled a room, the way he made me feel seen. My heart breaks, but it also dances-because I know he´s kicking up the floor somewhere, guitar in hand, singing with Mom and Dot, making heaven a little louder and a lot more joyful.

He always had a smile and love in his heart for everyone he came in contact with. That's my DAD! Love you to the moon and infinity. "Sam"
