It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the peaceful passing of our beloved Hugo A. Delfin, aged 80, of Burke, VA, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at 2:22 pm at Fairfax Inova Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Hugo's journey began in Manila, Philippines, on July 16, 1945, born to the late Atty. Arturo Delfin and Natividad Abdon Delfin. The second oldest in a family of six siblings - Three brothers - Bobot Delfin, Galiardo Delfin, Father Tootsie Delfin and two sisters - Gloria Delfin and Hannah Delfin Solinap.
He pursued a Bachelor of Law degree at the Far Eastern University, Manila. He also showed an interest in boxing and law at an early age in the Philippines. He embarked on a fulfilling career and immigrated to the United States in 1982, obtaining US citizenship in 1988. He began working at Riggs Bank Washington DC in1982 before joining the US Postal Service in 1988 as a Postal Clerk in Central Avenue, Maryland. He was known for his unwavering dedication and strong work ethic. He was an avid reader too. He enjoyed going to the library and bringing back stacks of books of varying nonfiction subjects to read every week. He enjoyed reading the newspaper every day at the time as well. Hugo was not only a professional, but also a fan of professional boxing and an extremely passionate NFL fan. He was always extremely vocal in cheering on his favorite NFL football team, the then called Washington Redskins during the Joe Gibbs years.
During his later years, Hugo was a world traveler with his wife, who loved exploring new places, trying new cuisines in Europe and Asia and connecting with relatives and friends.
He was a loving person to his family, and at the same time shy, but once he got to know you, he would talk endlessly about sports and politics. When he was younger, he enjoyed cooking and grilling Filipino cuisines. He always found joy in the simple moments of life. He loved to spend time with his wife, Mila and go to parties in Salisbury, Maryland hosted by Mila's cousin, Patrick Henry. He also enjoyed spending time with his children. Taking them to the movies and often driving them to their many activities as children. He was loved by many childhood friends of Dexter and Chris.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Mila Delfin, and his children, Dexter Jason Delfin, Chris Delfin, his daughter-in-law Jenn, and his grandchildren Tyson and Troy Delfin.
We invite you to join us honoring Hugo's memory at a Funeral Service on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, VA.
The viewing will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 11:30 AM.
