Mr. Hulas Hubert King was born October 9, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri and raised by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Willie Mae) King and Mr. Hubert H. Hoosman, Sr. in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Excelling in school, Hulas graduated from East St. Louis Lincoln Sr. High School as President of the Class of June 1964. His love for education led to his completion of a Southern Illinois University Bachelor of Science Degree in Business; University of Missouri-Columbia - Master of Science Degree inIndustrial Engineering; Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Illinois -Masters of Science Degrees in Management Systems and a Masters of Business Administration; as well as several advance certifications associated with his profession. He served as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Illinois University, authored numerous publications, was a speaker at various technical seminars, and was featured in several international publications.

Hulas married Linda Bolton December 25, 1967. Their 58-year marriage was full of love especially for their daughters and their grandchildren. Spending time with his siblings, especially for gatherings and travel provided a priceless joy. He loved fishing on the lake wearing his old Army Cap just as much as being an ultimate employee and leader.

Hulas was a drafted Veteran who reached the rank of an Army Sargent Technician. During the Vietnam War, he served as a combat medic, for two years, providing emergency medical care to troops on the front lines of battle having an integral role in their chance of survival and ability to come home.

Memories of his life will be forever cherished by his wife, Linda; daughters, Gail (Bennie) Richards and LaTosha King-Chambers; grandsons, Brandon Richards, Aurthur Chambers, III, and Aidan Chambers; brothers Douglas (Elva) King, and Mitchell King; sisters, Dorene Hoosman, Gaberielle (Harvey) Gordon, Lolesia Jackson, Lee Ola (Alan) Johnson, and Gwendolyn Hoosman-Jones; brothers-in-laws Marvin Bolton, Keith Bolton, and Charles McDonald, Sr.; sister-in-law, Andreal Hoosman; grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, classmates, co-workers, and friends.

Hulas began his 53-year professional career as one of the first African American Engineers hired by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation of St. Louis, MO. During that time, he was instrumental in the development of the Cornerstone Ministries Center of Kinloch, MO that served as an incubator for small business start-ups and a site for job training. He retired as Chairman of the Global Diversity Council for Siemens Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software. During his Chairmanship the Council awarded $1.2 billion dollars in grants to Engineering focused Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Hulas also served as Chairman, SPLM Global Opportunities in PLM Program and leader for Global Community Relations where he managed more than $4 billion dollars for over 10,500 partnerships for improvement in academic and youth development programs. He worked in China and many other countries around the world. As a Founding Member of Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education, Hulas linked industry partners to strategically selected academic institutions worldwide that are developing the automotive workforce of the future.

Hulas received many awards for outstanding performance and teamwork demonstrated during design, development and implementation of the Product Data Interface Project, establishing US Aerospace Leadership in Product DataStandards; as well as the Computerworld Smithsonian Awards -Virtual Interactive East-West Network for Engineering & Technology; 1997 Black Engineer of the Year Award; East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School Hall of Fame Award; 1996; and PBLC 1994 Outstanding Citizen Award to name a few. He was inducted into the First African American Biographies Hall of Fame -1994; University of Missouri, Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering - Hall of Fame; and received the Salute to Excellence Award Distinguished Alumnus of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville -1988.

Hulas was an active participant with several professional organizations including: American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, International Federation of Engineering Education Advancing Minorities' Interest in Engineering, the Stone Soup Foundation, Industrial Engineering Operations Management Society, the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies, the Metropolitan Training Alliance, the Professional Business Leadership Council and the DMDII Workforce Development Council. He was also a Master Mason and Shriner.

As a Certified Manufacturing Engineer, he traveled extensively in support of Global Opportunities in Digital Manufacturing for under-represented populations. He provided leadership, in accomplishing increasingly difficult tasks while ensuring that company goals were met, resources managed effectively, and empowered teammates were nurtured to continually excel.
