It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Hunter Cole Dayton, age 30, of Pittsburgh, PA, who left us far too soon on November 5 th , 2025. Hunter was known by all who met him for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and quiet strength.
Hunter had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and valued-offering warmth, laughter, and compassion wherever his travels took him. Whether through a listening ear, a thoughtful gesture, or a simple smile, he touched lives in ways words can scarcely capture. He loved music, books, visiting friends, long walks, long drives across the country, deep conversation and taking care of others.
Hunter is survived by his parents, Dr. Barry and Carrie (Lambert) Dayton, Yorktown, VA, his sister, Taylor Dayton, Spokane, WA, his brother, Parker Dayton, Yorktown, VA, grandmother, Gail Lambert, aunt, Amy Fullen (John), uncle, H. Wayne Lambert (Raine), uncle, Kent Dayton (Robin), uncle, Brian Dayton (Jill) and numerous cousins.
Hunter was a 2013 graduate of Yorktown High School International Baccalaureate program and played soccer for four years. He went to the University of South Carolina where he studied International Business. He spent two summers studying Mandarin in Beijing, China. His sophomore year at the University of Hong Kong. Transferring to the University of Virginia, he graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce. Taking his talents to New York City, he went to work in advertising for the Publicist Groupe, a multinational advertising and public relations firm. He most recently worked in the restaurant business in Pittsburgh, PA.
The funeral will be held November 15th at 4 pm with family visitation beforehand starting at 2:30 pm. The service will be held at Coastal Community Church, 101 Village Avenue, Yorktown, VA, pastor Shaun Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Coastal Community Church, Missions Fund at gocoastal.org in Memory of Hunter Dayton
