I. Elayne Devenney, 84, formerly of Gretna Springs, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Juniper Village, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late James T. Devenney who passed away in 2009.
Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Erma (Bruckno) Langenbach. Elayne worked as a clerk for several years in the bakery industry and was active in the Gretna Springs Community for many years. She loved playing shuffleboard and pinochle, and enjoyed bowling. She crocheted afghans with fellow neighbors in Gretna Springs and donated them to the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Price and husband Michael Ohl, and Michele, wife of Joseph Beck; eight grandchildren, Emily Horn, David Devenney and wife Alice Xiang, Samantha Beck and husband Joseph Closs, Carly Devenney and husband Alex Polito, Victoria Wesser and fiancé Robert Bretz, Mark R. Wesser, Jack Horn, and Trent Ohl and one great-grandchild, Renley Bretz. Elayne was preceded in death by two children, James F. Devenney and Christine P. Horn, and one brother Karl Langenbach.
At Elayne's request, there will be no services held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, https://www.lung.org/ in her memory.
