Fern, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the age of 87. She was born on January 22, 1934, to James and Bertha (Muncrief) Allison in Bromide, Oklahoma.
She was raised in Bromide along with her two older sisters, Lucille and Faye. On August 29, 1955, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Gerald Lakin. Together, they raised two daughters, Kayla Dee and Barbara Jean (Bobbie). Fern enjoyed traveling with her husband, as well as her children and grandchildren. She also had a passion for sewing and quilting. She made many friends through her sewing groups. She was also very involved with Quilts of Valor, a group that sews quilts for military veterans.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, both sisters, and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmie Lakin; her daughters, Kayla Lakin-Southern (and husband Kendall Southern) and Barbara Jean Van der Pol (and husband William Van der Pol); her dog, Kojak; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Brewer and Sarah Brewer, William J Van der Pol, and Hannah Southern; her sister-in-law and best friend, Carolyn Romine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
