Ida Gremillion Ducote

Ida Gremillion Ducote passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 27, 2026, at the age of 92.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Robert "RJ" Ducote; her son, Terrell Ducote; her five brothers, Hubert Gremillion, Milbon "Bean" Gremillion, Floyd Gremillion, Perry "Myron" Gremillion, and Ralph "RJ" Gremillion; her sister, Romaine Riche; and her parents, Ralph and Lillian Gremillion.

Ida's three children were her pride and joy: Perry Ducote (Tammy), Pam LeBlanc (Michael), and Troy Ducote (Danielle). She was a loving grandmother to Brooke Schnadelbach (Richy), Brandi Smith (Jerrod), Jason West (Lara), Victoria Ducote, Devin Ducote, Lauren Adams (Keith), Stephen Ducote (Lauren), Catherine Ducote, Nicole Keating, and Elizabeth Boudreaux. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Madison Smith, Laurel Smith, Silas Ducote, Alice Adams, August Adams, Arlen Adams, Lillian Jones, Maxilliam Hale, Ethan Jr. Barnett, Ean Barnett, and Kaia Ledet; and one great-great-grandson, Dominic Smith.

She also leaves behind her sister, Jean Saltalamachia; her two sisters-in-law, Voncille Gremillion and Kathleen Gremillion; as well as many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and all who loved her. Ida truly never met a stranger.

Ida was a devoted parishioner of St. Edward's Catholic Church for 61 years. She loved her family and friends, enjoyed reading the newspaper, traveling, and especially cooking. Her love of cooking lived on through her children and grandchildren, with two of them becoming chefs because of their beloved Nonnie's influence.

She is now at peace in Heaven with the love of her life since the age of 16, her RJ, or as she lovingly called him, "Baby," whom she dearly missed. Mom, go find Daddy on his mountain and live in eternal peace together. One day, we will all meet both of you there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a Catholic prayer service. Burial will take place immediately after services in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
