Gertie Evans, age 77, of Paris, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris. Her Celebration of Life visitation with the family will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Ida Geraldine Evans was born January 22, 1948 in Tyronza, Arkansas to the late Willard Harper Owens and the late Ida Sue King. She married, Jackie Evans, the love of her life and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2016.
Gertie is survived by her daughter, Susan J. Davis of Camden; grandchildren, Michael S. Barnhill of Mount Ranier, Maryland, Justin L. Lagace (Lane Gandy) of Long Beech, California, Ashley J. Baker (Kyle Baker) of Bruceton, Tennessee, and Austin D. Hargrove (Brooke Hargrove) of Sheridan, Arkansas; along with five great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Sue "Susie" Williams of Humbolt, Tennessee; other family members and numerous friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Gertie is also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia D. Davis; sisters, Dorothy L. Davidson, Ruby F. Mullins, Wanda J. East, Emme Sue Smith; brothers, Jackson R. Creekmore, Charles L. Bratton, Kenneth D. Bratton, and Jesse C. Creekmore.
Mrs. Evans was a Baptist by faith. She graduated from Humbolt High School and attended West TN Business College in Jackson. Gertie was a homemaker but also worked for Emerson Electric Company, formerly of Paris. She enjoyed crocheting, was known to be an outstanding cook who also loved fishing and spending time with her family.
