Ida Louise Kerr passed away on Monday Nov. 10, 2025 at Southwoods Assisted Living in Titusville, where she has been lovingly supported for the past four years.
Ida was born on January 1, 1926 at her parents' home on Prospect Street in Oil City, on the land that now houses the Venango Vo-Tech School.
Ida was a 1943 graduate of Oil City High School. After a brief stay in New York City, she graduated from Welch's Business College and was employed for ten years as an Executive Secretary at Oilwell Supply and Pennzoil.
Ida married John D. Rynd, Jr. on June 18,1955 at Zion Lutheran Church. Together they reared two daughters, Louise and Eleanor. John preceded Ida in death on January 15, 1989.
Ida married Robert Kerr in 1989. He also preceded her in death.
Ida resided at 210 State Street in Oil City for twenty-four years before moving to Southwoods.
Ida took pride in her role as a homemaker. As a Swedish girl who grew up during the Great Depression, she was endowed with a double dose of thriftiness and creativity. She was a talented seamstress who could design and create her own clothing, including her wedding gown.
Had social media existed in Ida's younger days, she could have been an "influencer." She was way ahead on many trends. Long before "health food" became a term, mail orders of whole grains, unbleached flour, raw sugar, natural honey and a host of other products from GNC arrived at her door. She and her family tended an organic garden fertilized with a compost pile. Ida canned her own produce and invented healthy recipes to use everything they grew. Before "rinse, reuse, recycle" was a slogan, it was Ida's lifestyle. Aluminum foil, bread bags and baggies were frequently clipped next to the laundry drying on the clothesline in her backyard. Nothing was wasted in her home.
Ida was a member of numerous local clubs and service organizations over the years and a volunteer on many occasions.
Ida was a lifelong learner, diving into many topics, particularly biblical study. She became an Old Testament scholar and was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ida is survived by her daughters, Louise Rynd (Tom Maurer) of Cornwall, PA and Eleanor Rynd of Oil City, her grandson Maxx Rynd and her great-granddaughter Eleana Rynd of Pittsburgh, and a niece, Connie Coombs of Spencer, Virginia and several cousins.
Ida was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Einar and Dora (Carlson) Anderson, her sister, Patricia Fedder and husband, Fred, a brother, Einar Anderson, who died at birth, and her beloved nephew, Fred A. Fedder, Jr. lost in the Vietnam War.
In accordance with her wishes, Ida will be laid to rest in a private graveside service surrounded by her parents, grandparents, brother, aunts and uncles in the Anderson family plot at Morningside Cemetery in DuBois, PA.
The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
