Ida A. Kretzschmar

Ida Angela Kretzschmar, 86, of Mahopac, New York, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2025.
Ida was born Ida Angela Censale in 1939 to Antonio and Carinda Censale. She was raised in Mount Vernon, New York, before moving with her family to Mahopac, where she made her home for more than 50 years.
A longtime and cherished member of the Mahopac community, Ida was employed by the Mahopac Central School District as a school bus monitor. She was a valued employee, loved by her coworkers and the many children she supported over the years.
Ida's happiest moments were spent with her family and dancing to her favorite songs. She could often be found listening to music, talking on the phone with her sister or friends, or enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Ida was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister and a loyal and caring friend to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Ida was predeceased by her sister, Susan Parasconda; her best friend and sister-in-law, Alma Yarrobino; and her adored nephew, Joseph Spinelli.
She is survived by her sister, Maryann Coles; her three children: Maria Mallon and her husband, Timothy; Linda Kretzschmar and her husband, Henry; and Al Kretzschmar. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael; Michelle and her husband, Christopher; and Nicholas; her great-granddaughter, Aria; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 3rd from 9-11AM at the Jospeh J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Angels Chapel (on the grounds of St. John The Evangelist Church), also in Mahopac.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ida's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
