IGNACIO CASTILLO Obituary

IGNACIO "NACHO" CASTILLO

Feb. 6, 1941 – Aug. 24, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ignacio "Nacho" Castillo on August 24, 2025, at the age of 84. Surrounded by his loved ones, Nacho passed away peacefully at home after a courageous and lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Ignacio was born on February 6, 1941, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. He brought warmth, laughter, and a deep sense of unity to everyone around him. A man of simple joys and strong spirit, Nacho found happiness in the outdoors hunting, fishing, tending to his garden, and working on cars. He especially took pride in growing his own vegetables and chili peppers, nurturing them with the same care and patience he showed to those he loved.

One of Nacho's greatest passions was cooking outdoors. Whether firing up the grill or prepping the disco for his signature dishes pollo con papas, fish fry, carnitas, and more he created unforgettable meals that filled not only the air with rich aromas, but also his home with love and togetherness. No occasion was too small; his joy came from feeding others and seeing their happiness.

Music was also a deep part of Nacho's soul. He had a special love for classic Mexican songs, often heard singing along to the timeless voice of his idol, Pedro Infante, or watching beloved films featuring Infante and the legendary Cantinflas. His voice, full of heart, and his ever-present laughter made him the life of every gathering. With his quick wit and endless trove of jokes, Nacho had a remarkable way of bringing joy to others a gift that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Ignacio dedicated 35 years of his life to the agriculture industry as a tractor driver a profession he held close to his heart. A true man of the earth, he approached his work with steadfast dedication and pride. His commitment and skill earned him the esteemed title of "Tractor Driver of the Year," an honor he treasured throughout his life.

Yet, Ignacio's greatest accomplishment was not found in awards or recognition, but in the strength and unity of his family. He was a pillar of support, always encouraging his loved ones in their sporting pursuits and fostering a bond that kept the family close-knit. For Ignacio, family was everything the foundation of his life and the legacy he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Candelaria Castillo, and their four devoted children and their spouses: Patricia (Enrique) Trujillo, Alejandra (Roberto) Rivera, Gerardo (Sara) Castillo, and Carolina (Mario) Monzon. Ignacio also leaves behind 12 grandchildren & 11 greatgrandchildren, which are his pride and joy, as well as his cherished siblings: Rosa Aguilar, Maria Flores, Teresa Carrion, and Pedro Castillo.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jorge and Martiniana Castillo, as well as his siblings Jorge Castillo Jr., Ana Maria Propps Castillo, Juana Salas Castillo, and Lupe Perea.

A viewing to honor the life of Ignacio "Nacho" Castillo will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Frye Chapel Mortuary & Crematory - Imperial, located at 338 West Aten Road, Imperial, California, 92251.

Dad I know you´re in a better place however it pains me that you are not with us anymore. I was fortunate to be in your presence as you slowly drifted away and the moment I saw you take your last breath that gave me assurance that you are no longer suffering. I have very fond memories growing up in our household and I wanted to thank you for all that you provided for us during the good times and bad times and no matter the situation I can proudly say that we never went to bed hungry and we always had clothes on our backs which is a testament of who you were, always making sure we were taking care of. Our lives are forever changed since you´re no longer with us but please know we´ll be ok.

In closing I just wanted you to know that, as your only son, I´m very humbled and proud to call you my dad.

Until we meet again,

I love you Pops!
