Ignatius J. "Snizzy" Giangregorio, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Jewish Health Care Center. He was 96 years old.
Born on May 2, 1928, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Ignatius was the son of the late John D. Giangregorio and Mary A. (D’Elia) Giangregorio. He was a proud graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. Ignatius dedicated his career to the City of Worcester’s School Facilities Department, retiring after many years of dedicated service. In his personal life, he cherished the time spent at the home he built in Harwich, where he enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and relaxing on the beach with his family. He was a devoted grandfather, never missing an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s games, and he also enjoyed following New England sports. He was lifelong member of the Shrewsbury Knights of Columbus Adelphi Council #4181 and the Italian American Veterans Post in Worcester. Ignatius will be fondly remembered for his commitment to his family and community.
Ignatius leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Lucille R. (Cursi) Giangregorio; his daughter, Rita Innamorati, and her husband, Alexander, of Westborough; and his son, John A. Giangregorio, of Worcester. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph J. Giangregorio, Angelo J. Giangregorio, Ralph J. Giangregorio, and Carmella Capozzo.
