Ike Skelton

I do not always check my social media platforms. So, on my 51st Birthday, I found out about Ike's death. He was a close friend of my Mom, Marilyn Kessler McCreery, and was in my Aunt's Wedding Party. He will be greatly missed. Few politicians were as honest and sincere as Ike.

Belton and Raymore lost a dear friend. In the 1980s he provided guidance as my Mother, Vera Waltmire, navigated the red tape associated with obtaining housing for Seniors. When people complained about politicians Mother was quick to tell them that Ike Skelton worked tirelessly and above and beyond the call of duty. The two cities have wonderful housing for Seniors.

I met Mr. Skelton when I was a child, the impression he left me on me never faded! As I grew up I watched & I knew that Ike Skelton was most certainly an honest & honorable man! This country has lost a great man!! My prayers & deepest sympathy go to his family, may God comfort you, keep you & bless you!

My father,Donny Lueck, went to school with Mr. Skelton. When both of our parents passed away, my brother & I both received a letter from Mr. Skelton. I realize he probably did this for many people, but it really touched us that he did take the time to show his thoughtfulness. Our parents (Donny & MaryAnn Lueck) have been gone for quite some time, but I'll always remember how Mr. Skelton's letter made us feel-remembered with caring.

Ike Skelton was a home town boy, who loved and served his city,state and country.When I was living in Lexington, when they had the Lexington Hertiage Days Parade,Ike Skelton, and Larry Moore were on horses in the parade.He was a great guy and he will be greatly missed by Family,and Friends "God Bless You"!

My younger brother attended Wentworth Military Academy, Mr.Skelton was a legend there and will be missed by many from the Show~Me~State.

Rep. Skelton was a great friend of the military and always supported the troops. He also did great things for my adopted state, Missouri. Can still remember when he showed up in our motor pool at Fort Hood right before we deployed to Desert Storm to visit with his son and other Soldiers in our the battalion. He had two qualities sorely lacking in today's group of elected officials. He was competent and he was a gentleman. So sorry for your loss.

To the family of Ike Skelton...I add my condolences and my fond memories of my friendship with Ike...He was a great friend to Tom Eagleton and the entire Eagleton "family"...good friends, good times, good memories...thanks Ike!

One article I read stated some many great titles for Mr. Skelton; but through the years I've seen him as a true gentlemen, family friend and great Missourian! He did attend many public and private events with his constituents and friends; but most of all he represented us as he had promised he would! He will be greatly missed and may his family, friends and fellow Missourians always remember his service!

We spent a wonderful afternoon with Ike when we visited DC. He treated us like family, took us with him to vote, seated us in the family section, and then spent even more time with us. He and Daddy grew up together in Lexington during a different era and he had some wonderful memories of Pierre that he shared with us. And memories of Grandma Margueritte too. What a memorable experience he gave us!

We were deeply saddened by the news of Rep Ike Sekelton's passing.

He was a great leader for our Local Community, our State and Nation.
He was always working for the people and that was greatly apprecaited.

Ike came several years ago and did the key note at my brother and his friend's Eagle Scout celebration. It was such an honor to have him there. He did a lot for Missouri. My thoughts to his family.

I always liked Mr. Skelton has he seemed more interested in helping the people of Missouri than "playing" politics. May you find comfort in God's loving embrace during your time of sorrow.
