Ilene Gawlik left this world to meet her savior on February 17, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on July 19, 1946, in Waco, Texas and attended Connally High School and went on to beauty school to become a talented hairdresser. She dedicated many years to her career, bringing joy to countless clients until she faced the challenges of a major stroke.
During this time, she met her last love in Ted Gawlik, marrying him on April 18, 1987. Their story was filled with family, friends, bowling, traveling, laughter and endless memories. She remained a faithful member of Coastal Oaks Church and the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does (Elks Lodge) until her death. Ilene’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through many highs and lows. She enjoyed many crafts including painting, crocheting and beading Native American jewelry.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ted, 3 sisters and 3 beloved nephews.
She leaves behind her children, Dan Horton, Laura Brotzman, Karen Williams, Michelle Horton and 14 grandchildren - Mark Horton, Wesley Williams, Joshua Lanpher, Jacob Bell, Sarah Moss, Andrew Moss, Amber Carver, Jennifer Horton, Merissa Horton, Elizabeth Scotti, Meredith Brotzman, Renee Taft, Buddy Williams and Amanda Dougherty, whom she adored.
Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Ilene and celebrate the assurance of her eternal relationship with the Lord.
The time of visitation will be March 2, 2025 from 3-5PM at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, TX. A funeral service to celebrate Ilene’s life will be held on March 3, 2025, at 10AM at Coastal Oaks Church in Rockport, TX followed with burial at 2PM at Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Coastal Oaks Church in her memory.
