Illa Schaller, 70 went to be home with God on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Eventide Nursing Facility.
Illa was born March 28, 1954 at Jamestown the daughter of Albert and Faye (Madson) Schlager. She grew up on the family farm south of Robinson, ND until the family moved to Jamestown in 1960. She attended all 12 years of school in Jamestown, graduating in 1972 from Jamestown High School. Illa went on to attend the North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton, ND.
She began her working career in Human Resources at Western Gear in 1973 and retired from Newman Signs in 2016.
Illa and Jim Schaller (the love of her life) were married August 7, 1976, and made their home in Jamestown.
Illa began her long battle with Ovarian Cancer in June of 2013, fighting and surviving the big “C” four times. Illa was a fighter and a trooper.
Illa will be remembered for her caring and sharing personality, on a personal basis her green cake and delicious deviled eggs.
Illa is survived by her sister, Alma (Bob) Lulay, Jamestown; brother, Byron (Deb) Schlager, Burnsville, MN; nieces and nephews, John (Lulay) and Juliet- Pasha and Jacob; Lisa (Lulay) and Lance Thoreson- Jared; Derek (Schlager) and Lyssa-Reagan and Grace; David (Schlager) and Jessica, Danielle (Schlager) and Zach Harbaugh; Misti (Schlager) and Troy Beckman-Kayla and Braydon, all of the Minneapolis area; and Chad and Roshni Schlager and Ishaan of Kirkland, WA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents, Albert and Faye Schlager; and brother, Doug; and niece Christine Lulay.
