Imogene Kirkpatrick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Patton Funeral Home LLC - Cleveland on Feb. 12, 2026.
Maggie Imogene (Wilker) Kirkpatrick, 84, of Kingston, TN, known to many as Imogene, went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2026, in Knoxville, TN.

She was born on March 12, 1941, in Kingston, TN, to Eugene Garfield and Gladys Wilker. Imogene accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. She was baptized at Braxton Chapel AME Zion Church in Kingston, TN. Later, she was a devoted member of Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, where she served in various ministries.

Imogene worked in several roles throughout her life, including at Sears department store and at Martin Marietta Energy Systems, Inc. (Oak Ridge National Laboratory). After retiring from ORNL, she volunteered her time at Blue Grass Elementary School, where she was affectionately known as the "Clinic Lady." She later served as a community election volunteer for the Knox County Election Commission.

She was also a proud member of the Rollettes Association, a local social and community service group.

Imogene is survived by her husband, Charles Rufus Kirkpatrick, Jr.; daughters Marsha Debro, Traci (Chris) King, and Charlene "Niki" (Isiah) Cobb; siblings Narville (Mary) Martin, Gene Martin, Barbara Crawford, Nell Brown, Jenice (Joe) Brown, and Cheryl (Greg) Carter; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and close friends.

Throughout her life, Imogene embodied Christian love through kindness, generosity, and compassion. Friends and family will remember Imogene for her bubbly personality, loving smile, and caring manner. Her love of education inspired several of her friends and family to pursue careers in education and librarianship.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Cedar Bluff and her CNS Cares in home care team for their compassionate support.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local library, the National Kidney Foundation, or the American Cancer Society in memory of Imogene Kirkpatrick.
