Ina Jean Jurgensen, born on March 17, 1949, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 77.
Ina was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania to James A. and Julia B. (Soliz) Weston. Her childhood years were spent in Compton, California and she received her education at Dominguez High School.
Ina and Harley E. Jurgensen were united in marriage on February 3, 1968, at Santa Ana, California. The couple made their home in Burwell, Nebraska, starting in 1969, where they raised their children, Ronnie and Kathy.
Ina worked in various capacities in the Burwell area before dedicating many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Community Memorial Health Center. She was a dedicated caregiver and made many friendships with the residents.
Later, in 2021, she relocated to Hastings, where she resided at the Villa. There, Ina enjoyed playing card games, BINGO, and socializing with her fellow residents.
Ina was an active member of the Burwell American Legion Auxiliary during the 1980’s and 1990’s. She found joy in painting, puzzles, and her unique collection of Holstein cow figurines and stuffed cows. Ina enjoyed watching Westerns, especially those starring John Wayne, she was an Elvis fan and had a special love for her dachshund dogs. Ina valued family time and treasured visits with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Tammy Jurgensen; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gene Freeman; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Terri Weston and Jerry and Gayle Weston; sister and brother-in-law, Annette and John Flammia; and in-laws, Roland and Lois Jurgensen, Bill and Sheryl Holt, Carleen Jurgensen and Patti Gillespie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Harley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Calamus Trinity Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Pastor Stephen Williams will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Kent Cemetery in Loup County, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
