It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ines Maria Rosario, 91, of Springfield, Massachusetts. Ines departed this life on November 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Ines was born on May 3, 1934, in Manatí, Puerto Rico, to Marcela Maldonado and Emilio Rosario.
She worked as a tobacco worker and later as a presser at American Linen before joining Highland Laundry, where she remained until her retirement. Ines was a jack of many trades and, above all, a devoted and hardworking woman. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, generosity, and compassion.
In her free time, Ines enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo with her family, and spending her days in the comfort of her church community, which brought her great joy and peace. Her birthdays were a cherished tradition, filled with love, laughter, and generations of family coming together to honor her life and the joy she brought to theirs. Dancing was one of the ways Ines expressed her happiness-her graceful steps and radiant smile lighting up every celebration. Her warm heart and love defined her life and left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ines is survived by her beloved daughters, Maria Vega, Carmen Martinez, and Confesora Pagan; her sister, Francisca Rosario; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and Abigail Sierra, who she loved and cared for as her own.
She was predeceased by her lifelong partner, Julio Pagan; her parents, Emilio Rosario and Marcela Maldonado; and her brothers, Juan, Ramon, Benencio, and Alfredo Rosario.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ines's caregivers - Jocelyn Escobar, Iraida Santana, and Emily Martinez - for their dedication, compassion, and loving care. They also wish to especially thank her daughter, Confesora Pagan, whose unwavering devotion, patience, and gentle care brought Ines peace and comfort during her most difficult days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at North End Funeral Home (currently known as City Cremation), 130 Carew Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. A Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
