I just heard about Ingrid and I am shocked. I lived and worked with her on East Cordova in a big warehouse with several others. I had the "apartment" above hers and Patts, with Bani and Peso. We were introduced through a mutual friend (JF) when I was working at Cypress Mountain and she was in need of sewing staff to build up her Roach Clothing & gear empire.
I started working sewing downhill pads, jerseys, the classic roach shorts, and all the other items on offer. Lots of crazy mountain biking events I got to attend and I even got to custom design a pair of roach downhill shorts for the one and only Gary Fischer (in a theme to match his bike at the time, of 30,000 leagues under the sea). I was so lucky to learn so much about the clothing manufacturing industry through Ingrid and her sometimes zany methods of business. We shared many a home-made bread-machine bread together in her abode next to the cutting room. I am sorry this happened to you Ingrid ! Thanks for all the learning, laughing and fun events! Keep on Cycling forever!

I just found out yesterday of Ingrids passing while attending a Christmas party with many local folks to North Vancouver. I purchased two Roach skirts many years ago & still own them. Most recently I met her in person @ The Black Kettle brewery. She was a favourite person of mine, so energetic about the communal kitchen & I was so looking fwd to tasting her Mexican food again. I just thought I just kept missing her @ the Kettle. So sorry she is gone from this world. She is one of many I will see in the next....

I remember Ingrid fondly, as she had a warm humanity to her that put others at ease. We couriered and raced in the 80s and she was one of the core riders. It weighs on my heart to learn she passed so young. My condolences to her close friends and family.

I want to thank her again for her positivity she gave me and others through her passion of art and fashion.I still have some of the clothes she gave me for bike racing In the late 90s and I still use them daily.

This is terrible news. Its also terrible loss for the city of Vancouver and it cycling community. I remember Ingrid custom making me a jacket and pants when I was about 16 years old. This was the mid 90s and at that point I was burning through everything I could find. I still have the jacket she made me, it is in fantastic shape. Shes a pretty amazing person. I loved randomly stopping by her shop as a young adult who is still obsessed with all things professional mountain biker, and running into guys I dont missing and videos. I also loved running into her at every event it seemed and she always remembered my name. She left a lasting impression on me. Its funny, I ran into an older gentleman wearing one of her jackets about a week ago at a restaurant. We got into a pretty good conversation about the industry and her contribution to it. Seeing Her original Roach clothing on somebody else almost makes you have to go talk to them.

Knowing Ingrid from the early 90,s in the cycling industry, I always noticed the kindness she gave to others and was a very giving person. Always shared the things she gained so others may enjoy or be a part of as well.
She always had a smile even when times were tough. I now feel even more honored to have enjoyed our conversations and our laughter together as we were racing past one another in a mountain bike race or just sitting at the Cambie have a cold one.
She will be missed but never forgotten in my time.
