Ingrid Helene Trovillion, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 85. Born April 24, 1940, in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Willi Böttcher and Helene Bruggemann Böttcher. Ingrid’s vivid life was marked by determination, strength, and resilience, qualities that shaped her into the remarkable person she became.
Ingrid, known for her intelligence and outspoken nature, was a beloved figure in her community. Her career saw her selling furniture at various establishments across western Kentucky, where her friendly demeanor allowed her to easily connect with both customers and colleagues alike; she truly did not know a stranger.
One of her most defining moments came at the tender age of 18 when she courageously defected from East Berlin to seek a new life. Her journey continued when she met a soldier from the United States Army named Robert Trovillion in West Germany. This pivotal meeting led her to embrace a new chapter as a military wife, a role she took on with pride.
Ingrid found great joy in her faith, having come to Christ in Paducah, Kentucky, in 1969. Her strong beliefs were foundational to her life, guiding her actions and nurturing her spirit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Trovillion and brother Harald Böttcher.
Her legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her sons, Roger (Julie) Trovillion and John (Connie) Trovillion; stepdaughter Valorie Faith (Bob) Deichman ; her brother Hans-jürgen Harald Böttcher; her grandchildren, Alexandra (Keith) Reesor, Emily (Cody) Larson, and Carson Trovillion; as well as her great-grandchild, Hardesty. Each member of her family carries forward the values and love she instilled in them.
Family, friends, and all who knew Ingrid are invited to gather to honor her memory. Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, Tennessee, on Friday, January 23, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Ingrid will be laid to rest at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville at 1:00 PM.
