Inteas Umar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Memorial Funeral Home - Waterbury on Nov. 1, 2024.
Inteas Umar, passed away at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, CT on Sunday, October 27th at 2:30 pm. He was born on April 15, 1958, at Adelphi Village, Canji Berbice Guyana South America. He was the firstborn son of the late Mohamed Ali Umar and Azizan Stella Umar. He was the brother of Amo and Azad and the late Shawzad. Khadijah AKA Sista, Zaminea and youngest sister Shafeena. He was married to Nalini Umar, the union brought forth 3 beautiful sons. Quazsim, Andrew and Christopher, He is grandfather to Eion, father-in-law to Mala.
He was the brother-in-law of Pantun AKA Dabit, Carlene and Asha also Ryan whom he loved like a brother. They had many lengthy conversations about Jesus and his life in Guyana. They also talked about the Sugar Estates, tractor and cows. Inteas was the uncle to Nadira, Urmila, Amanda, Samantha, Charmine and Maria. Sanjay, Shahnna, Dannny and Elijah. Cousin of Nezam and others, Sally and others, Shidia and others. Nephew of aunt Enid, Doreen and the late auntie Aida. He spent his last day at the Hospital In Stamford Connecticut Inteas was a fun person to be around, loved to dance Indian songs and watch Joel Osteen, but when it comes to Joyce Mayers he would always walk away from the show and say that she is a crazy lady.
Inteas spent many years living in Pennsylvania with his eldest sister Khajida and by himself for a short period of time. He also stayed with Zaminea in Queens, New York for a short period. He also stayed with Quzsim and Christopher in Connecticut where he had many great memories with them and his grandchild. Inteas moved to Florida in 2020 where he spent a few years with Shafeena and Ryan. He decided to relocate to Connecticut to be close to his boys. He was full of jokes but very helpful with doing things around the home.
In July 2024, Shafeena, Zaminea, and Ravi picked him up from the Nursing Home and took him by Omar George to spend an overnight. Omar was very kind by taking care of his personal needs like ensuring that he had a shower, cut his hair and shave him. We also took him shopping at Walmart where he had lots of fun. He was taken to the Nursing Home the following Day and the Nurses and other staff were so excited when they saw him because he looked like a brand-new person. Ryan traveled to Connecticut on Labor Day weekend to visit Ineas to ensure that he was receiving the proper medical care at Abbott Terrace Health Center Nursing Home. Omar and Ryan had a day with him by chatting and feeding him.
On behalf of myself and husband Ryan, my brother Amo and the rest of our family we would like to thank the Management and Staff of Chapel Memorial funeral Home for the love and care you show to us and our loved one by making the process easy for us. Thanks to our family and friends who traveled from near and far to support us, and my phone calls and text messages. Thanks to Pastor Omar George his love and support. Thanks to all the facilities management and staff who took care of him. Thanks to our sister-in-law and family for hosting us during this most difficult time by cooking and preparing for the repass. Respected Family and Friends of Imteas Omar,

I have come to the realization that my father's birth name is Imteas Omar, not Inteas Umar. Through stories shared by his family members, I have been able to verify this information. During my father's immigration to America, his name, along with the names of his siblings, underwent a change. Interestingly, only his first and last name were altered. The letter "M" was replaced with "N," and the letter "O" with "U." This change was significant considering my father's identity and aspirations. He willingly accepted this revised name to secure his migration to America.

Growing up as a child in America, I had access to technology such as the internet, including websites like ancestry.com, which allowed me to trace our heritage. I was always curious about the legacy from which I came. Unfortunately, my initial research was flawed. At that time, I was searching for the last name Umar, which led me down an incorrect path. The information I had previously believed to be true was misleading, due to the fact of the name change. Now that I have this accurate information, I am eager to learn more about my ancestors and the lives they lived in Guyana. Through diligent research, I have been able to trace my family history back to approximately the 1840s through the 1890s.

I have shared a photograph of my great-grandmother. If any of you reading this message would like to share additional information or stories, please contact me at [email protected]. It would be an honor to engage in conversation and share the legacy of my father.

Thank you for reading,

Mohamed Quasim umar
