Irena Kosakowski

Irena Kosakowski, 93, of New Britain, passed away on July 3, 2025 at Ingraham Manor in Bristol. She was born in Kamionka, Poland on March 24, 1932 a daughter of the late Jozef and Stanislawa (Blaszczak) Ryng. She came to New Britain in 1963 with her late husband, Edward Korpowski and their two sons, John and Roman. She started working at Winslow Automatics in 1963 and worked up until she was 85 years old. She developed a very close friendship with the owners and their family. Irena enjoyed knitting scarves and sweaters, cooking delicious Polish food, and had a passion for playing cards. She met and married Stephen Kosakowski and moved to Hartford where they spent many wonderful years. After the passing of her beloved Stephen followed by her son John and later Roman, Irena returned to New Britain.

She leaves behind her granddaughter, Christi Menges and her husband Dan of St. Louis, MS; great-grandsons, Grant and Will Menges; two nephews in the US, Joseph Ryng of Farmington, and John Ryng of Bristol, as well as great nieces and nephews. She also leaves family in Poland.

Irena's family would like to thank Irene Wozniak and Wendi Scata for their unwavering friendship through the years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday (July 9, 2025) 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St. New Britain.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Shaker-Hill Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave. New Britain on Wednesday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
