Irene Marie Adams, born on November 22, 1953, in Potosi, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson, at the age of 71. Irene was known for her hard work and dedication, spending many years helping others through Missouri In-Home Health Care. Her pride and joy came from being a cook at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, where she loved cooking and caring for the elderly and disabled.

Irene graduated from Potosi High School, class of 1971. She was an excellent cook, famous for her delicious chicken and dumplings, oyster dressing, chocolate chip cookies, and sugar cookies. In addition to cooking, she enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and watching old westerns. She had a special appreciation for old country music, often listening to artists like Conway Twitty.

Irene treasured family gatherings, whether for a holiday or just to spend time together. She is survived by her husband, Gary Adams; two sons, Clayton Adams (and wife, Angie) and Justin Adams (and wife, Michelle); bonus son, Kevin Charboneau; six grandchildren, Destiny Adams, Emily Adams, Brayden Burns, Austin Williams, Braylyn Smith, and Wyatt Adams; two great-grandchildren, Haylynn Burns and Delilah Dinkins; dear sister, Tina Schrum; niece, Pam Direso; and nephews, Eric Schrum, along with many extended family members.

Irene was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred June (Pashia) O'Hanlon; grandmother, Elizabeth O'Hanlon; two siblings, Charles "Chuck" Williams and Patrick O'Hanlon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Della Adams; brother-in-law, Tony Schrum; and many other dear relatives.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at DeClue Family Funeral Home, located at 301 E High Street, Potosi, MO 63664. Interment and final prayers will be held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. Honoring Irene by serving as pallbearers will be Clayton Adams, Justin Adams, Eric Schrum, Kevin Charboneau, Brayden Burns, Hueston Schrum. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
