Irene Marie Curtis, 91, of
Decatur, IL passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Irene was born on January 29, 1932 on a farm in Delaware County, Iowa, the youngest of ten children to William and Logina (Meiners) Reth. She graduated from Delhi Consolidated School, Iowa in 1949 where she later taught for two years before graduating from Iowa State University in
Ames, IA in 1955. She also taught in Michigan and Illinois for a total of 45 years, retiring in 2000. Irene married Dean Curtis on June 26, 1954. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur and a member of Ruth Circle. She also belonged to the Macon County Herb Guild. Irene was a nature lover and enjoyed working in her garden, cooking, camping, reading and playing with her dog Paige.
Irene is survived by her husband: Dean Curtis of
Decatur, IL; sister: Verna Euwer of the state of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
