Irene Loveless Obituary

Irene Loveless, 96

On September 29, 2025, Irene Loveless went home to be with Jesus, passing peacefully at the Libby Care Center. She was 96 years old. Irene's faith was evident in her life.

Born in Conrad, Montana, on July 4, 1929, to Harrison and Minnie Belew. The family moved to Kalispell, Montana, where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Flathead High School.

Irene's life was full and vibrant. She worked at many jobs, from being a secretary/assistant with insurance agencies, working in Christmas tree lots, being a bookkeeper/accountant for a variety of people and their businesses, and most recently being a real estate sales person/ broker. She owned her own real estate agency and served the public in that capacity for Libby and the surrounding area. She started selling real estate in 1969 and stopped in 2019, retiring after 50 years at the age of 90. During her career she attended many seminars and courses around Montana, including the University of Montana, and as far away as Salt Lake City, Utah.

Irene was active in a variety of clubs, Rotary (a Paul Harris Fellow), the Eagles Auxiliary, the Elks and others.

Irene was an active member of the Libby Christian Church. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her time immensely at her cabin and subsequently home at Thompson Lake. She loved playing cards, especially pinochle, cribbage and more recently playing bingo at the Libby Care Center. She loved to travel, especially with her son Dennis and his late wife, Mary, to many states and countries in North America, Europe and Asia.

Irene is lovingly survived and remembered by her son, Dennis Loveless; her niece, Connie Westerholm; and nephews Alan (K'cee) Quimby, Randy (Kris) Loveless, and Robin Loveless. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Donald (Faye) Loveless; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Loveless; numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; other nieces and nephews; and wonderful and great friends.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Loveless; her son, Jay Loveless; her parents, Harrison and Minnie Belew; her sister Geraldine Quimby and her husband Ray; and her daughter-in-law, Mary M. Loveless.

Irene's life was a living testimony of faith, perseverance, joy and unconditional love. Her warmth, humor and devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on in every life she touched.

Her funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Libby Christian Church, 100 Kootenai River Road, Libby, MT. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.

Grandma Irene was truly an Angel. Funny story about how she became grandma, but too long to put on here. Even though not blood related, she was always Gram to my brother Steve and I. Oh the hunting stories I could tell! Her laugh was infectious and her hugs were oh so welcoming and calming. From sharing a pizza or nachos from the Ranch restaurant, to hanging a moose in the garage ( and getting kissed by it in the process) and many nights of just sitting by the fire listening to her stories in the cabin, we sure will miss her!
