Lena "Irene" (Swanson) Peppmeier, daughter of Mary Callista (Maloney) Swanson and Maynard F. Swanson was born April 30th, 1927, in Ringgold County, Iowa. She graduated from Shannon City High School in 1945 and then taught school at Grant #1.
On February 12th, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Earl Keith Peppmeier in Carlisle, Iowa. She later went back to school and substitute taught in several local schools. She spent most of her married life raising children and working with her husband on the family farm. Irene enjoyed family, children and especially her grandchildren. Earl passed away in 2008.
Out of her marriage they were blessed with 4 children, Marilyn (JC) McCall, Dennis (Janet) Peppmeier, Judy (Jim) Oshel and Ken (Lori) Peppmeier, 10 grandchildren (Amy, Ray, Jill, Brian, Karen, Deric, Ryan, Brooke, Ayla and Zack) as well as many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl, brothers, Howard, Carl, Ralph, sisters Agnes, Anna and daughter, Marilyn and son-in-law, Jim.

Dear Judy,
Sorry to read of your mother's death.
I visited her when she lived down the street
from me as well when she lived at Regency.
Of course I have been at Pella now ten years
so haven't seen her for some time.
Regardless of how long we have them it is always difficult
to have them leave us.
