Irene Popp

Beloit, WI - Irene Popp, 100 years old, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at Riverside Terrace, surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Trippville, Wisconsin, on May 31, 1925, to Frank and Elsie (Bulin) Slama, and she grew up on the family farm. Irene graduated from Hillsboro High School and Viroqua Teachers College. She taught grade school for several years in the Hillsboro and Kendall areas. On September 27, 1951, she married Robert J. Popp. They lived briefly in Cuba City, Wisconsin, before settling in Beloit in 1954, where they raised their eight children. Irene was a woman of many accomplishments, including being an exceptional seamstress. Irene is survived by her children: Diane (Jim) Clark of Beloit; Kathy Morwood of Beloit; Frank Popp (Ole Meland) of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; JoAn (Tom) Hanson of Sun Prairie, WI; Charlene Wolf of Phoenix, AZ; Tom (Debbie) Popp of Beloit; Bill (Diana) Popp of Bellefonte, PA; and Sheila Popp (Jim Schultz) of Evergreen Park, IL. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with number 14 expected any day. Additional survivors include her sister, Romelle Lukasiewicz; sister-in-law, Audrey Sosinsky; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Doris McConnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her sister Berneece, and her brother Ronald. A private family service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Mt. Thabor Catholic Cemetery in Beloit, WI. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverside Terrace for their years of compassionate care, and to Beloit Regional Hospice for their support during Irene's final illness.
