Irene F. Santee, 70, of Pottsville, passed away Friday, August 29th, at Temple University Hospital Main Campus, Philadelphia.
Irene was born in Pottsville on November 5, 1954, a daughter of the late Walter & Loretta (McNulty) Sponhouse.
Married 44 years, she was the loving wife of Stirling G. "Skeeter" Santee.
She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, St. Clair.
Irene was a 1973 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.
She had been employed as a bundler by American Argo.
Irene belonged to several local social clubs including North Ward Social Club and Pine Grove Fish & Game, just to name a few.
She loved to visit casinos and play Bingo and Pinochle.
In addition to her husband, Irene is also survived by her daughter, Jessica Saulnier, wife of Harold J. Saulnier III, Schuylkill Haven, two sons: Matthew Santee, & Stirling G. Santee, Jr., both of Pottsville, four grandchildren: Harold J. Saulnier IV, Luke Saulnier, Chase Saulnier, & Dean Saulnier, three siblings: Loretta Skoufalos, wife of Michael, Port Carbon, Kathleen Adamchick, widow of Thomas, St. Clair, & Vince Kane, husband of Jean, Palo Alto, and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three siblings: Sally Ann Yeager, Michael Guzick, & Walter Sponhouse.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 4th at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held in the church’s chapel on Thursday from 9:15-10:15 AM.
Private interment will be held at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
