Irene Edna Slingerland February 23, 1931 – July 18, 2025 With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Irene Edna Slingerland, who left this world peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on February 23, 1931, Irene was a true country girl at heart-rooted in simplicity, resilience, and grace. She grew up with the kind of strength that only rural life can instill, sewing her own clothes with skill and care, and filling her home with the warm, comforting aromas of her legendary cooking. Her kitchen was a place of magic, where recipes were passed down, memories were made, and no one ever left hungry. Irene was funny, smart, and wickedly witty-her humor could light up a room, and her sharp mind kept everyone on their toes. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved, often with just a clever quip or a knowing smile. But above all, Irene's greatest ambition-and her proudest achievement-was being a devoted wife and a loving mother. She poured her heart into her family, creating a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the traditions she upheld, and the love she gave so freely. A celebration of Irene's remarkable life is pending, and details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days. In the meantime, we remember her with joy, honor her with stories, and carry her spirit with us always. She was one of a kind-and we were lucky to call her ours.
